Rickard Rakell was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the 1st round, (30th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut during the 2012-13 lockout shortened season. It wasn't until the 2014-15 season that Rakell was a mainstay on the Ducks roster. On 21 March 2022, with Anaheim out of a playoff spot and with Rakell set to become an unrestricted free agent, the Ducks sent Rakell to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2022 second-round pick, Dominik Simon, Zach Aston-Reese and prospect Calle Clang.
Rakell wore this Reverse Retro jersey for nine games. He scored four goals and added two assists over the nine game span. In addition, he logged two penalty minutes while holding a minus one rating.
